What does it offer?
Home Growing concern and rising energy costs have highlighted the need for alternative energy sources. Low carbon energy systems are the future for heating in a cleaner and more economical way. Faced with a wide choice of system options, your Local Authority can offer not only advice, but also finance through WHIL towards the installation most suited to your needs. All loans are secured against the property using an equitable charge or an equitable mortgage.

Depending on your Local Authority Policy, there are a number of types of installation available, including:

  • Solar Thermal (for hot water heating)
  • Photovoltaic
  • Ground Source Heat Pumps
  • Biomass Boiler Systems
  • Automated Pellet Stoves
  • Small-Scale (mast mounted) Wind Turbines
  • Micro-Hydro Systems
  • Air Source Heat Pumps
How do I apply?
HomeContact your local authority. Their details can be found here. One of our Advisors will contact you to arrange an initial visit.

They will provide you with more information about the different types of loans and the repayment options available to you.

They will make a financial assessment to ensure you have sufficient disposable income for the loan. This is very important because you must not commit yourself to a loan you cannot afford.

The Loan Advisor will explain and guide you through the next stages of the process.

They will help you to complete the application form and keep you informed at all times of the progress of your application.

Security and risk
All loans are secured by using either an equitable mortgage or an equitable charge on the property. It is also registered at the Land Registry, meaning the property cannot be sold or change ownership without the Wessex loan being re-paid.
